If I Were a Teacher

Pool of Knowledge

I would definitely teach people how to read. There is no better subject than the gift than that. Because there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. But before you get to the wisdom you must acquire the know how.

When I will realize I am a grown-up

At this point, I have not grown up. I still get away with most of the things I did in elementary, junior high and high school. But the cool thing is now is that I do these things to adults and I have 2 boys to teach them how to not get caught. I think when I am a grandparent, then I may consider myself grown up, but lets not and say we did!

Headsprout Lesson 3 and the fishing report

So lesson 3 of the headsprout comprehension program is under his belt and he is roaring to get to the next lesson. I guess there is something to be said about continuity. For some reason, my son brought his “A” game to the plate and he just blazed right through the lesson, like he was an old pro at it. Before I go on a tangent, the lesson had to where he practiced differentiating between Find the Fact questions and Clue Words questions. So this was more like a video game for him than a lesson. I noticed this because of the posture he had through the lesson.  Sometimes he slouches, which means he is bored, then when the software stimulates, or should I say challenges him, his posture is straight and he is alert and moving that mouse all over the place.  So in This  lesson, he discovered which strategy to apply depending on the type of question. Now that was something that appealed to his noodle.

Unknown fish caught in La Jolla waters, researchers are puzzled

Name that fish

On another note, we all went fishing over the weekend, and let me tell you it is hot out there on the beach. By the way, it was my birthday and I got to spend an afternoon fishing with the boys and they were having a blast.  At one point, we were flinging lobsters up on to the rocks,  just to get a rise off of the tourist that were walking by. We even caught a couple of fish that we have no clue what they are called. So here is a picture of one of them. Since we are all new to fishing, I am thinking of setting up a contest to help us identify the type of fish we are catching. So let me know what you think would be a good prize for the proper identification of these fish. On the next update, I will post the other fish. So sports fans, stay tuned to the next adventures of the boys who learned how to catch fish while learning to read. I guess I should submit this to nickelodeon.

Lesson 2 of headsprout comprehension completed

In this chapter of the headsprout lessons my son learned a new strategy to answer Clue Word questions, which are those where the answer is not clearly stated in the paragraph. First, he learned to find the part of the passage that has clue words, and then to select the correct answer to the question. At the beginning of the lesson it was a little bit bored because this was more of a review for him and I noticed he started to get a little impatient. I told him that its okay and to just be a tiny bit more patient. As the lesson continued, it did pick up and getting faster. Once that happened, he was clicking that mouse as fast as he could read. So stay tuned there are more to come.

Need your feedback on this.

Since headsprout has just released a promo code on the 80 lessons software, I wanted to know if there is any interest in getting a discount promo code for the comprehension software.

I just received from headsprout a promo code to get the headsprout bee that is one of the characters in the early reading lessons. Here is the code DEZINRCBEE to receive your headsprout bee just for coming to this website.
